WHO WE ARE

Michela Scalpello
Michela (the one on the right – excuse the same hairstyle) has over ten years of experience in prisons. I have worked, taught, researched and implemented interventions in a number of UK and European prisons. I have worked in partnership with other institutions on European funded projects based on penology and taught criminology and penology at higher education institutions. I have always found the closed institution phenomena interesting, especially in terms of how the lines merge and blur. I firmly believe that rehabilitation is the way forward, both towards a happier society as well as in crime reduction, and that people can do more to make a change in other people’s lives. No matter how small the change, it always makes a difference. That is why I have established Co-CreatingTransformation with Lauren – because we believe that enabling change is possible, one step at a time.
Lauren Stevens
Lauren has nine years experience of working in a UK prison and has developed a passion for working with families of prisoners. She has worked in a higher education institution and has both taught and conducted research in the areas of prison rehabilitation, education, probation training, and resettlement. She is a PhD candidate and her thesis focuses on primary prevention strategies for reducing child sexual victimisation and exploitation.

Dudley
Dudley is always round when he is needed (and also when he is not) to ease stress (or increase it), make us exercise on walkies, and offer an ear and shoulder for cuddles. He’s also good at eating all the food in the house. Dudley would love to be a therapy dog! Hopefully in prisons!

Everyone, no matter who they are or where they live, deserves access to quality health care.
